Abstract:
This study will investigate the Determinants of Intention to Uptake Agent Banking Service a
case of CBE – BIRR agents’ at Jimma area The study sought to explain the impact of perceived
risk, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and business location of an agent. In order to
achieve the stated objective, the researcher adopted both quantitative and qualitative of research
approach were used. The study used primary data collected by using questionnaires from
selected Agents. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive and exploratory statistics and
regression analysis. A researcher developed a framework based on the Technology Acceptance
Model with some modification.
The findings show that perceived risks has a negative effect on intention to Intention to Uptake
agent banking in Ethiopia. This shows that there have to be further awareness about risk (system
security, trust on agent, so on) of the system to be confident. The study revealed that perceived
ease of use, Perceived usefulness, and Location of the agent’s business area were recognized as
it positively influences the intention of uptake agent of banking service. The study recommends
the bank should expand its agent banking Service to unbanked area and creates awareness to its
potential customers.
