One of the primary goals of macroeconomic and fiscal policy in the Ethiopia, as in many
other developed and developing countries is to reduce unemployment. The study
investigates the impact of fiscal policy on unemployment in Ethiopia from 1990 to 2022.
In the analysis, the cointegration test, the ARDL Model were used. The variables studied
include real gross domestic product (RGDP), government spending, tax income, trade
openness, population growth, and the unemployment rate. The stationarity test was
performed, and the findings showed that, with the exception of population increase, all
variables were stationary at first difference. The cointegration test result demonstrated
that the variables under examination have a long-term relationship. Furthermore, ECM
results revealed that government spending has a negative influence on unemployment
while tax income has a beneficial impact. Finally, the Granger causality results revealed
a one-way relationship between unemployment and government spending, with causality
moving from government spending to unemployment. Using this method, the researcher
discovers evidence of a long-run relationship between the unemployment rate and
variables such as government spending and tax income. The study recommends, the
government restructure its spending patterns by directing more funds toward productive
expenditures and utilizing its potential for revenue generation by diversifying Ethiopia's
revenue stream.

Purpose of this study is to investigate the Factors Influencing saving and Credit Cooperatives of
improving members of livelihood. The researcher applied both descriptive and explanatory
research design. The research was conducted by using both qualitative and quantitative research
approach. A study was administered a sample of 263 respondents and the target population of
the study was SACCO’s members in vision fund microfinance Jimma town. The researcher was
utilized simple random sampling techniques and Data collection method by using questionnaires.
Method of data analysis was used descriptive and econometrics analysis with the help of STATA
version 14. The study employed a binary logistic regression model trough marginal effect
analysis to identify factors that affecting the livelihood improving of members of SACCO. The
binary logistic regression model is used to examine the effect of predictors on livelihood
improvement status of SACCO’s members. The finding of study trough marginal effect analysis,
reporting coefficient results show that marital status, household family size, saving, loan, welfare
fund and training statistically significant and posit ively contribute livelihood improving of
members. The conclusion of the study the livelihood of SACCO members about 64.63 percent
were did not improved, but only livelihood of SACCO members about 35.37 percent were did
improved and based on the result recommendation forwarded it is better for SACCO providing
access to affordable credit is essential for SACCO members to invest in their businesses and
improve their livelihoods. This can be achieved by offering flexible loan terms, lower interest

assessment of factor affecting the delay of road construction in Ethiopia; the case of Oromia road projects, Jimma zone
Negesse Getinet Daba; Tezera Selamu; Abebe Shentema
Delays on the construction projects are the most common and frequent problem of the road
construction. Many road construction projects have been undertaken throughout the Oromia
Regional State as part of the government’s regional development plans. However, a few road
building projects in ORA that were proposed and financed by the Federal government have
not been finished by the initial deadlines and pre-agreed sums of money. The main objective
of this study was to identify the factors affecting the delay of road construction in Ethiopia;
the case of Oromia road projects, Jimma zone. The survey data was carried out through a
questionnaire. The sample size of the study is 158 respondents, professionals from 3 target
population client, contractor and consultant in Jimma Zone Road Authority. 47 potential
delay causes and 7 effects were selected from the reviewed literature and the causes were
divided in to 5 as client related factors, consultant related factors, contractor related factors,
material and equipment related factors and environmental related factors. The researcher
used stratified simple random sampling techniques in order to assess the cause and effect of
delay on road construction the case of Oromia road projects, Jimma zone. These factors was
ranked using the Likert scale-type questionnaires are used as a data rating scale tool to
measure employees' perceptions of the variables. The study used a primary data source and
the data was quantitatively analyzed using the Social Science Statistics Package (SPSS).
Finally, both descriptive and inferential statistics was used to analyze the data. Among the
descriptive statistics frequency distributions, means, standard deviation and relative
importance index method was used. Among the inferential statistics Pearson correlation and
multiple linear regressions analysis was used to identify the effect of project delay of road
construction. The Pearson correlation result showed that there is strong relationship
between the independent variables and project delay. Consultant related factors, contractors
related factors, and environmental related factors were identified as a statistical significant
effect on the delay of road construction projects, but client related factor and material and
equipment related factors do not have a statistical significant effect on the delay of road
construction projects at 5% level of significance. The researcher recommends that clients
should have a good coordination with the contractor and being realistic so as to avoid
delays.

Determinants of Financial performance of Primary Saving and credit cooperative Societies in Jimma Zone

The study aimed to investigate the determinants of financial performance of primary
SACCOs in Jimma Zone, Ethiopia. The objective of the study was based on six factors: leverage,
liquidity, managerial efficiency, capital adequacy, SACCO size, and age of SACCOs. The total
population of the study was SACCOs in Jimma Zone, and the sample frame selected primary
SACCOs in Jimma Zone. The sample size of the study was 12 primary SACCOs, which were
determined purposively. The study employed a descriptive and explanatory research design.
Secondary data was used for the study, which was collected through document review from the
financial statement and audit reports of the year’s 2018 to 2022 using observation and review as
data collection instruments. E-View 10 was used for secondary data analysis. Inferential
statistics were applied through the use of multiple regression analysis to establish the nature of
the existing relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables.Out of the
six variables incorporated in the model, capital adequacy, size of SACCOs, and age of SACCOs
have a positive and statistically significant influence on the financial performance of SACCOs in
Jimma zone. Managerial efficiency has a negative and significant effect on the financial
performance of SACCOs. On the other hand, liquidity and leverage have positive and
insignificant influences on the financial performance of the SACCOs. The number of primary
SACCOs in Jimma is high in number but they are not as strong, so the study recommended that
to improve the financial capacity of SACCOs by amalgamating different primary SACCOs into
one under the big umbrella. The government official of cooperatives should pay great attention
to continuously supervising, inspecting, auditing, and developing regulatory situations to make
them financially prudent and enhance the development of infrastructures in different areas where
difficulties are being faced on the way to providing financial services
