The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that every woman has the right to
respectful and dignified care during pregnancy and childbirth. However, Obstetric Violence
(OV), a form of gender-based violence, remains prevalent in many countries, including
Ethiopia. This mistreatment, which includes physical, verbal, or psychological abuse during
childbirth, undermines women's dignity and poses significant risks to their health and well-
being

Background: The menstrual period is a natural phenomenon that occurs throughout the
reproductive life, accompanied by different hormonal changes in every female. Due to the
hormonal changes and sociocultural difficulties, adolescent girls before and during the age of
menarche have a higher risk of psychological distress, like anxiety and depression. However,
to date, attention has not been given to psychological distress and associated factors among
primary school adolescent girls during mensus in Jimma town
