and is associated with impaired wound healing, increased susceptibility to infection, prolonged
hospitalization, and higher mortality. Burn injuries trigger a sustained hypermetabolic and catabolic
response that markedly increases energy and protein requirements, predisposing patients to nutritional
deterioration during hospitalization
