Ashenafi Belete Gudeta; Belayneh Berhanu; Dersolegn Yeneabat
The right to housing is a human right that enables individuals to live in peace, security and dignified life
without being threatened by unexpected evictions. The development projects, on the other hand, are tools
for fulfilling the overall public interest of development and benefiting the whole members of the
community. The individuals’ human right to housing and the public interest of development need a
balance as one interest cannot be fulfilled at the sacrifice of the others. This research has the objective of
exploring whether the balance between the right to housing of individuals and the public interest of
development is maintained during the implementation of corridor development in Jimma City
