Abstract:
Nowadays, internal displacement is a ubiquitous global humanitarian concern. This study assessed the
practices and challenges of local government in reintegrating internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the
case of Wombera Woreda, Metekel Zone Benishangul Gumuz Regional State of Ethiopia.
Methodologically, this study employed a qualitative research approach with an exploratory case study
design; data were collected through purposive sampling techniques from responsible government
officials, NGO officers, Kebele administrators, and Kebele militia via key informant interviews. Focus
group discussions were also used for IDP leaders, NGO workers, and elders, alongside observations of
public Infrastructures. Accordingly, this study identified the following findings by thoroughly assessing
different practices and challenges.
