Abstract:
Subtrochanteric femur fractures are severe injuries resulting from high-energy
trauma or low-energy falls in older adults. Surgical method, patient factors, and rehabilitation
influence functional outcomes. Although the proximal femoral nail is the gold standard, its use is
limited in low- and middle-income countries due to cost and the requirement for radiolucent tables
and fluoroscopy. The SIGN nail provides an affordable, fluoroscopy-free alternative, but evidence
regarding comparable functional outcomes remains limited
