dc.description.abstract In this study we present a survey of three generalized iterative methods for the solution of the system of linear equations. The study used splitting of matrix, when the matrix satisfies strictly diagonally dominant, symmetric and positive definite property to guarantee the efficiency of the three methods. The thesis shows that the generalized successive over relaxation method is more efficient than the generalized Gauss-Seidel method and is much more efficient than the generalized Jacobi method taking into account the number of iterations, the computational running time and level of accuracy required to converges. en_US
