The aim of this study was to investigate the attitude of high school students toward physical education learning in Babo woreda Secondary School, Jarso Woreda Secondary school and Leta Sibu Woreda secondary school .These schools were selected purposefully. The study employed a descriptive survey research design and the mixed research methods. Data for the study were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires were prepared and administered to 223 of sample students that were selected by using simple random sample techniques and six physical education teachers that were selected purposefully in the schools under investigation. The interviews were also made for each of these physical education teachers. The data collected were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative forms. The data going to be gathered through open-ended questions and interviews were analyzed qualitatively narration and the data collected through close-ended were analyzed quantitatively by using spss(statistics package for social science) followed by descriptive statements. . From the data analyzed the major findings of the study were the students had positive attitudes toward learning physical education, the time allowed to PE classes was not enough, PE teachers had good views to PE than other academic subjects.The ministry of education and regional education bureau should improve time given for PE and fulfill materials for sporting. Future research on perception of secondary high school students in learning PE is advised. |
