The study was conducted to compare selected health related physical fitness components of urban and rural male students of sayo secondary school. Forty (20 male from urban and 20 male from rural) students have been selected as subjects and their age were16-20 years. The main instrument of data collection was standardized field tests, such as Twelve minute run copper test, Sit and reach test, Ninety degree push-up test and Wall and sit test. A total of 40 respondents were used for the study. In the selection of the sample population stratified and simple random sampling were used. Descriptive statistics such standard deviation and mean were employed as method of data analysis. More over inferential statistics particularly T-test was used for comparing between rural area students and urban area students on selected health related physical fitness components. The finding of study shows that there are significant difference between rural and urban secondary schools grade 9 students in their cardiorespiratory, muscular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility. Thus, rural secondary school students perform better on Twelve minute run copper test, Sit and reach test, Ninety degree push-up test and Wall and sit test than urban students. Finally, policy makers and physical education teachers should attend the issues of health related physical fitness is possible recommendations were forwarded based on the major finding so as to minimize problem encountered the implementation of teaching quality physical education. |
