The purpose of this study was to investigate the Attributes of Abdi Bori General
Secondary School success in Ilu Aba Bor Zone, Oromia Region. The main aim leads to
the following objectives, namely to investigate the leadership practices that influenced
student achievement, to describe the teachers’ characteristics that positively influenced
student performance, to investigate the teaching & learning environment that positively
contributed to school success, to explore the students’ opinion on successful school. A
case study methodology was used because it was the researcher conviction that he would
gain a deeper insight to the attributes of school success. The participants of the study
were thirteen and selected purposively: five teachers, two principals, five students and a
chair person of PTSA. Accordingly, the study was employed both primary data and
secondary data, Data were collected through interviews, observations & document
analysis techniques. Regarding data analysis techniques thematic analysis was purely
employed. The findings of the study revealed the principal was an instructional leader;
the school had encouraging and supportive teachers; the school held high expectations
and focus for all students; the school had a shared decision-making was evident. Based
on the data generated I am forced to give the following conclusions on attribute of
successful school in Illu Aba Bor zone, Abdi Bori General Secondary School. These key
factors include: An is instructional leader, High expectations and focus on all students,
encouraging and supportive teachers, and Participatory decision making. |
