The main purpose of the study is to assess the effect of Addis saving and Credit Institution
Funding on Poverty Reduction particularly for Woman Headed Households in Kirkose Sub city.
The study applied explanatory research design. Both quantitative and qualitative research
approaches were used to collect data through the utilization of a questionnaire and interviews
respectively. A total of 231women headed ACSI clients were participant in the study. Primary
and secondary data were used to find out the research output. To generate the output of the study
results the statistical software version 20.0 was used and analyzed and interpreted accordingly.
The finding of the study reveal that microfinance helped the poor in many respects such as
serving as a buffer against shocks, as an instrument of consumption smoothing. It also helped
households to increase their income and assets and help them increase consumption expenditure
and develop savings habits. Moreover, the findings of the study suggest that Addis credit and
saving institution has been playing important role towards expanding the outreach performance
of its service. Furthermore due to ACSI intervention 40% of households confirmed that the
overall household income increased. In addition to this, business management skills, self-esteem
and the self-confidence of participants have shown progress due to the involvement of Addis
credit and saving institution. To sum up though microfinances has a paramount role in helping
and improving the life statues of women headed households in kerkos sub city there are also
things related to administrative issues awareness creation and investment opportunity should be
improved from the concerned body. |
