dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study was to Analysis of principal Roles in the Implementation of Continuous Professional Development in Secondary School of Jimma Zone To achieve the purpose of the study, cross sectional survey design was employed. Both quantitative and qualitative data were gathered to conduct the study. The sampling techniques used included purposive and simple random sampling techniques. The sample size was 147 teachers, 44 department head, 11 vice principals, 11 secondary school principals. 11 CPD facilitators, 5 Zone education department expert, 7 woreda education office supervisor experts with total of 233 participants out of 383 study populations. The data gathering tools employed were questionnaire, interview as well as document analysis. The participant of interview were principals, department head, CPD facilitators, Woreda and Zone education office experts. Questionnaires was administered to 142 teachers of which all of them were properly filled and returned. The information gathered through close-ended questionnaire was analyzed using percentage, frequency, and mean score, while the data gathering through interview and open ended questions were narrated qualitatively. Results of the document analysis were also described. The findings indicated that the extent to which the role of principals in the implementation of CPD practicessuch asarranged induction courses of CPD, prepares discussion forums with other schools, prepares training opportunity based on training need assessment, produces annual CPD plan, evaluate and give feedback on CPD activities were insufficient or low practiced en_US
