Abstract:
The main objective of this study was to examine factors that affect short distance running
training project athletes in Metekel Zone. The study used both primary and secondary sources of
data obtained directly from representative samples of the population under study. By using
census sampling technique the researcher were selected 174 respondents. The instrument for
data gathering to assess this problem the researcher used questionnaires and observation the
data collected through questioners were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative methods. In
this quantitative data analysis descriptive statistical spss version 24 was used. The qualitative
data analysis method was also used as a supplementary data analysis technique for triangulation
and justification purposes to complement the insight drawn from quantitative analysis. Based on
the analysis made of this study conclusions were made and the findings of this study were
identified. The result of the study indicated that the Athletics training projects use more of the
traditional and non-scientific method of training in addition to lack of proper facilities and
equipment, shortage of standardized training area and convenient running track, absence of
continuous use training inputs, inadequate knowledge and skill of trainers, low level of attention
,absence of implement of training principle effectively, lack of proper talent identification , poor
coaching style, lack of using effective training principle effectively, absence of allocate budget
from concerned body, and absence of working jointly all stakeholders to minimize the problem
