dc.description.abstract Background: Mothers with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) encounter serious problems that affect mother‘s quality of life and lead morbidity and mortality. POP exhibit multiple symptoms that can severely affect a woman‘s quality of life by limiting physical, social, psychological and sexual function. Care for patient with pelvic organ prolapse focuses on clinical outcomes and determine the status of patient quality of life and associated factors were neglected; scientific studies focusing on this area is lacking in the study locality, thus, this study is designed to determine the psychosocial and mental health impact of pelvic organ prolapsed among patient attending treatment at Jimma Medical Center. Methods: A hospital based prospective cohort study will be employed. Data will be collected by interviewer administered pre-tested semi structured questionnaire from all patients attending follow up service of Jimma Medical Center. Patient quality of life will be assessed using Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quality of Life (P-QOL) tool. Level of social support will be assessed by using Oslo Social Support Scale (OSSS-3) and patient perceived stigma will be measured by using stigma scale. In addition treatment outcomes like degree of prolapse, emotional distress, post operation complication will be assessed. The data will be collected in 4 phases. Thus, at admission (baseline data), at discharge (immediate treatment outcome), at 3 and 6 month post-operative assessment will be done. Data entry will be done using Epi data version 3.1 and statistical analysis will be done by using SPSS 20 statistical software en_US
