The objective of this study is to determine the effects of employee commitment on performance of organization based on a case study of some selected public sectors in Jimma city..The study had employed explanatory research design. Purposive sampling techniques were administered in the selection of the four service providing public institutions. From probability sampling stratified sampling was used in the selection of employee. The data were collected through questionnaire with 100 participants from the existing population.. Standardized questionnaires were distributed, filled, and collected. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to process and analyze the data collected from the respondents through correlation; and regression analyses were performed to determine the association between dependent and independent variables. Additionally, employees’ commitments were found to have effects on the organizational performance in the study area. The result from multiple regression analysis indicates that Motivation are the largest value followed by training, and development opportunity, Demographic factors, and work environment factors ranked from one to four respectively. Thus, recommendations have been provided to increase commitment by designing motivational package, to give attention to work environment and establishing sustainable regular training program in the public sectors in the study area |
