Abstract:
Background: Vaccination to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been taken as the
best option for controlling its transmission. However, populations have raised severe
concerns on Covid-19 vaccination and may pose a significant global health threat. Several
factors have contributed to Covid-19 vaccine acceptance; socio demographic factors,
knowledge level, attitude toward vaccine, access to information, safety & effectiveness,
multiple beliefs and misconceptions still exist influencing its acceptance. Therefore, this
study was aimed to assess determinant factors associated with Covid-19 vaccine acceptance.
Objective: To assess the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine and its associated factors among the
population of Omo Nada District, Jimma, South West Ethiopia, 2022.
Methods: A mixed-method community-based cross-sectional study design was undertaken
with a multi-stage sampling technique. An interviewer-administered structured questionnaire
was used to collect quantitative data. A sample of 584 for quantitative data and 17
respondents for qualitative data were participated for the study. Data was checked for
completeness and consistencies then entered into Epi-Data manager (version 4.6) and
analyzed using SPSS (version 25). In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, variables
having p values of less than 0.05 at the 95% CI were considered as associated factors of
COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. For the Qualitative method, purposive sampling with indepth interviews and; thematic analysis was used.
Results: Covid-19 vaccine acceptance among the respondents was 68.8% (95% CI: 65.05%-
72.55%). According to the study findings respondents who had high perceived vaccine
benefit (AOR=6.93, 95% CI [2.29-21.02]), perceived to barriers (AOR=0.08, 95% CI [
(0.027-0.251]), positive attitude toward Covid-19 vaccine (AOR=4.92, 95% CI [ 1.40-17.28])
and health workers recommendatio
