Abstract:
Majority of Human Papilloma Virus infections resolve naturally, but progress to precancerous
lesions whenever there is persistent infection. When treatment is delayed, the precancerous
lesions progress to the advanced cancerous stage. Cervical cancer is a major cause of morbidity
& mortality in women mainly in resource-limited nations including Ethiopia due to lack of early
detection & treatment brought by poor implementation & uptake of screening programs.
Therefore, identification of determinants, understanding of the context and implementation of
effective interventions aimed at increasing screening uptake for early detection and treatment can
lead to a significant reduction in the morbidity & mortality associated with advanced disease
