The main objective of this study was to assess the role of conflict management in effectiveness of
the performance of the organization in case of Jimma zone, Nono Benja woreda, and selected
government offices. To answer study questions, the researcher applied descriptive research
design with mixed approach. While conducted this study , both primary and secondary sources of
data were utilized .In order to select the sample size , the researcher applied purposive sampling
technique , in which all 160 employees who taken from 4 selected offices of Nono Benja, from
civil service pool ( Education, and Finance ) and from administrative pool ( Water and Health)
offices were purposively selected . The study was also included 8 management and 12 grievance
handling committees taken from each organizations. Data was collected using , questionnaire,
interview and FGD . The collected data was analyzed through percentage, frequency, mean and
standard deviation. The finding of this study showed that , poor communication, repetitive
negative behavior of employee, personality clashes ,issues related with salaries and wages and
lack of cordial relationship among employees were caused conflict ,as consequences conflict in
these organization discouraged the effective performance of the employee reducing quality,
productivity, loss of economy and also bring fragmentation among the staff .As conflict
management techniques, the leaders deliberate used accommodating , avoidance, solving
problems, and compromising .Therefore, the researcher recommended that , hence conflict affect
the effective performance of the organization, its better if the management settled conflict earlier
, and re-orientation through work shop and seminars need to deliver to employees about the
consequences of conflict in the organizations. |
