The main purpose of this study was to analyze the practice and challenges of urban land
Administration in Jimma town. To achieve this objective, the study employed a qualitative
research approach. Qualitative methods of data collection, such as focus group discussions,
in-depth interviews, and key informant interviews, were used to collect data. Data was
collected from primary and secondary sources. Primary data was obtained 307 form
customers through Open ended interview and focus group discussion using convenience
sampling method technique. The results of the study revealed that the study identified
significant challenges in good governance within the urban land administration system in
Jimma town. Customers expressed dissatisfaction with lack of transparency, unfair land
distribution, corruption, and poor service quality. Managers and experts acknowledged the
challenges but also highlighted opportunities for improvement through various mechanisms
and the importance of public participation, inclusive planning, and technology adoption was
emphasized as key levers for enhancing good governance. The study recommended that the
urban land administration office should work towards a more equitable, transparent, and
efficient urban land administration system that benefits all its citizens. These efforts will
require sustained commitment, collaboration, and resources from the government, civil
society, and the public to achieve lasting positive change. |
