dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to Assesses the factors that affect practices of corporate social responsibility in Jimma University by taking dependent and independent variables; and these variables were CSR strategy of the university, Community service budgets and budget use, labor pressure, community enforcement and finally social license. Cross sectional research design with mixed research approach was employed together with Correlation and regression to conduct the research. Questionnaires, interviews and document analysis had been used as data gathering tools. Cluster, proportional and convenience sampling for the purpose of collecting information by using questionnaire; and also purposive or judgmental sampling method was used to sample respondents to gather information through interview method. Data had been collected from Jimma University research and community service office, from administrative and academic employees of the university, and from the Jimma zone education and agriculture & environmental protection bureaus. A total of 400 sample respondents were involved as respondents of the study but only 341 respondents response was analyzed and interpreted using descriptive (using percentage, and frequency, mean scores) and inferential statistics(using Pearson Correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression). After analyzing the response rate of respondents, the researcher had concluded that the university practices CSR well and the determinants which were analyzed in this research have a linear relation with the CSR practices of Jimma University. And finally, it was recommended that Jimma University need to enhance the participation of employees in the CSR strategy formulation process to fully address their needs and expectations. en_US
