Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
development in Pakistan. The data for this study was obtained from face to face interviews with 124
respondents using structured questionnaire. The study used descriptive statistics and regression technique
to determine the important factors affecting the SMEs in Pakistan. The regression results show that financial
access, managerial skills and government support are the most important factors contributing to SMEs
development in Pakistan. The results indicate that the SMEs in Pakistan are not technology oriented. The
findings of the study might help the businessmen to understand the important factors that play significant role
to develop their businesses. The study suggests that policy makers can consider the findings in formulating
policy which may create an environment that is feasible for the development of SMEs in Pakistan
