Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis was to study factors that affect the development of male youth football players in the case of some selected projects in Jimma city, U-15 and U-17 projects .A descriptive research method has been implemented and date gathered has been presented and analyzed in descriptive method. Six sample youth football projects were selected, from 10 Jimma city participant projects, by using simple random sampling techniques. The researcher employed a descriptive survey with mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) as method of Study. In this attempt, data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and observation check list. Thus, the subjects in the study were 108 players, 6 coaches and 2 sport office officials. Accordingly the research revealed that training facilities and equipments were not in the expected level for the trainees and coaches, there is a series shortage of football playing fields, Lack of training manual, absence of a unique trainee selection, there is inadequate sport wear, there is lack of scientific method of training and ignorant to the methodology of coaching and lack of proper follow-up ( insufficient attention ) of youth and sport office higher officials and officers have been considered as factors affecting the effectiveness of the youth football development .Thus, it was recommended that the youth and Sport office of Jimma is expected to look in detail and take necessary action and also governmental bodies (top administrative staff), have to search a mechanism to solve the problems through raising awareness of all seventeen kebeles administrative Officials at large and to design ways of producing financial sources for the youth football projects by increasing the participation of the society and the different stakeholders to take part in the process of developing a strong youth football projects .
