dc.description.abstract We analyze the quantum properties of the light generated by a nondegenerate three-level laser in which the three-level atoms available in an open cavity are pumped to the top level by means ofstrong coherent light. We carry out our analysis by putting the noise operators associated with a vacuum reservoir in normal order. It is found that the three-level laser generates squeezed light under certain conditions, with maximum intracavity squeezing being 55% below the coherent-statelevel. We have also established that the stimulated and spontaneous decay constants have directly and inversely proportional effect on the intensity of the light generated by the system, respectively. In addition, the light modes in the laser cavity are entangled at steady-state. en_US
