This research was aimed at analyzing the relationship between parental educational
level, income and marital status with academic achievement in jimma Ginjo elementary
school students..
Before data was collected, 123 sampled were selected from 616 elementary students
using stratified random sampling technique. Students self filled questionnaire was used,
where marital status based questions were proved its validity and calculated reliabilities
0.92 and 0.77 cronback alpha for marriage involvement and divorce separation
dimensions marital status respectively. After relevant data was collected in April 2, 2011,
the data was analyzed using statistical tool. Table, pearson correlation product moment
and point biserial correlation, linear regression and one way ANOVA were utilized to
analyze the data.
The study result showed that parental educational level, parental income status, marital
status make no difference by children academic achievement while there is statistical
difference in achievement between the two sexes.
Finally, recommendation were given as follows a) affirmative action like tuitorial class
better to be given for female. b) school counselors are expected to employ techniques like
study style and stress coping mechanisms. C) Investigation are better to expand their
study in nature side of argument in developing countries the Ethiopia d) parents should
follow children indirectly though home room an school supervisor |
