dc.description.abstract Wastewater generated from different sources affects the health of living organisms and the natural environment due to the availability of different pollutants. Coffee processing waste wastewater from coffee producing industries has to be managed and treated properly to be used for different purposes. Electrocoagulation process is highly adopted these days due to the installation and maintenance system being simple and operating cost is low. For the treatment of coffee processing waste water single Sono (US) electrocoagulation, Photo (UV) electrocoagulation and combined Sono (US) –Photo (UV) Electrocoagulation process is used in this study. The effect of Sono – Photo Electrocoagulation for removal of BOD, COD, Color, TDS, Turbidity and phosphate has been investigated, as well as the effect of various operating parameters such as electric current (0.15 – 0.75 A), contact time (30 -60 min) and pH (3-11) on removal efficiency have been identified firmly. The experimental runs and findings were planned using the response surface methodology (RSM) based on Central Composite Design (CCD). The maximum removal of BOD (99.73%), COD (99.73%), Color (99.37%), TDS (96.76%), Turbidity (99.41%) and Phosphate (98.73%) was obtained at electric current – 0.45A, pH – 7 and contact time 60 min. the combination of electrode Al-Al with 2cm distancing were used. As a result, experimental findings Sono-Photo Electrocoagulation is found to be the good technology for coffee processing waste water treatment which is achieved by coupling Sono (US) and Photo (UV) with the electrocoagulation process. en_US
