dc.description.abstract The construction industry in Ethiopia, despite being a highly dynamic sector crucial to a nation's development, has issues relating to evaluating the impacts and contributions of management practices on the performance of building construction projects in Hosanna Town. The study aimed to identify the contribution of management practices to project performance, investigate how management practices can influence project performance, and evaluate the effectiveness of management practices concerning project performance The research design used Descriptive research and quantitative approach. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from consultants and contractors involved in building construction projects. The collected questionnaires were analyzed using RII (Relative Importance Index), correlation, and statistical methods on Microsoft Excel were employed for data analysis. The study's main finding was that project management practices significantly improve the performance of building construction projects, ensuring they are completed within the estimated budget, time, and quality with RII (0.9, 0.8511 and 0.917)respectively. Management practices primarily affected project cost management, including estimating, monitoring, and controlling the project cost to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Additionally, clear project evaluation and review techniques contributed to achieving project goals. In conclusion the study also identified challenges related to inadequate management practices are project budget overrun, delay and poor quality. To address these challenges, the researcher recommends adopting a project life cycle approach, utilizing project management tools and techniques, establishing effective communication channels and support mechanisms, involving users throughout the project implementation, and project follow-up and monitoring practices. As mentioned earlier, these proactive measures are crucial in mitigating the inadequacies associated with management. en_US
