dc.description.abstract Urban and peri urban agriculture include socioeconomic and environmental benefits in addition to benefits for food production from vegetables, crops, and animal rearing. This study was conducted in Jimma town with the main objective of assessing the contribution and challenges of urban and peri-urban agriculture in improving household livelihood, its challenges and its implications on Land use planning in Jimma town. The study employed a descriptive survey design with quantitative and qualitative approach which is supported by qualitative data. The primary data was collected through questionnaires and structured interview specially designed for this study en_US
