Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is the most important grain directly consumed in the human
diet, accounting to half of the grain legumes consumed worldwide. Angular leaf spots (ALS),
caused by Pseudocercospora griseola is a major and frequently occurring disease of common
bean in Ethiopia. Therefore, the current study was conducted with the objective of assessing the
distribution of ALS, examining the relationship between ALS and biophysical and agronomic
factors and evaluating the disease management strategies through host resistant and chemical
fungicides in the southwest Ethiopia. Assessment of ALS severity and associated agronomic factors
was carried out in six districts during the 2022 and 2023 main cropping season.
Pseudocercospora griseola isolates collected from the study areas were characterized based on
morphological features and pathogenesity test conducted under greenhouse conditions |
