Abstract:
Commercial bank of Ethiopia Gerba Guracha branch is one of the financial institutions that are
located in Oromia region, North shoa zone, Gerba Guracha town. The study was focused on this
Town in particular to assess factors affecting the role of commercial bank of Ethiopia for the
economic development of Gerba Guracha town. This study used both primary and secondary
data. The primary data was collected through interview and questionnaire and the secondary
data was collected from different published and unpublished document, other research and
websites.
The collected qualitative and quantitative data from the current employees of the banks was
processed by using data processing procedures. These procedures are editing, coding, analysing
and after that appropriate data interpretation was commence. Then based on the above factors,
the researcher provides appropriate and feasible solutions, suggestions and recommendations.
From an analysis of the collected data, the finding revealed that frequent network and power
failure, poor saving culture, high cost of internet, shortage of skilled man power, lack of team
spirit, inconsistence in service quality, inflation, lack of customer awareness regarding the bank
service are the major factors that affect the role of CBE Gerba Guracha branch on the economic
development of Gerba Guracha town. Among those factors network and power failure are the
dominant one.
