Abstract:
Wastewater is the liquid end product of municipal, agricultural, and industrial activity. Municipal
wastewater is the water that emerges after fresh water is used by human beings for domestic
and commercial use. A Significant amount of water is necessary to carry out all of operations in ji
mma town. After that, the water is discharged directly into the environment (Aweturiver) without
treatment. Jimma town municipal wastewater is one of the sources of water pollution that still
requires more effective treatment. The goal of this study is to use a combination of natural
coagulant (moriga olifera seed) and electrocoagulation to remediate effluent from the Jimma
town municipal wastewater. To reduce the effects and increase the effectiveness of the moringa
olifera assisted electrocoagulation (MOAEC) process. The coagulant was moringa olifera seed
(MO) at dosages of 0.1, 0.25, 0.4, 0.55 and 0.7 mg/l. According to the results of the experiments,
the effectiveness of coagulation improved with the addition of a coagulant dose until the optimum
dose was attained. COD, BOD, TDS, TSS, phosphate, and color all decreased after the
coagulation-flocculation process, as well as the effects of various parameters such as pH, time,
current, and dosage. The hybrid of natural coagulant (moringa olifera) with electrocoagulation
process is the method removed more 96.2% of Color, 95.24% of TSS, 97.6% of phosphate, 86.45
% of TDS, 89.3466 % of BOD, and 91.4773 % of COD. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) with 95 p
ercent confidence limits was used to determine the significance of independent variables and their
interactions. As a result, the combination has been shown to be effective treatment techniques for
pollutant removal, and it was discovered that combining natural coagulant and electrocoagulatio
n could improve pollution attenuation
