Abstract:
In an interconnected power system, any little sudden load change in any of the regions causes the
change of the frequencies of every zone. Additionally there's the variance of power in the tie line.
Variable and uncertain power yield presents modern challenges to power system frequency
stability. To ensure the secure and stable operation of power systems, the control for frequency
deviation is examined in this work. Load Frequency Control (LFC) are used, to preserve the real
frequency and the desired power yield (Megawatt) within the interconnected control system and
to control the change in tie-line between control areas. So, an LFC is essentially a suitable
control system for an interconnected power system, capable of bringing the frequencies of each
area and the tie line powers back to unique set point values or exceptionally close to set point
values after a load change. Usually accomplished through the use of conventional controllers
such as PID. But the conventional controllers have a few demerits; they are exceptionally
moderate in operation control. With the diverse power system component, it is exceptionally
difficult to decide the gain of the PID setting according to changes within the working point. The
advanced control (ANN) system features a part of the advantage over an ordinary PID controller.
In this thesis work, the advanced control strategy PID control technique has been connected with
ANN controller for LFC of four area power systems. The hybrid of PID and ANN controller is
able of giving better reactions and is appropriate under different nonlinearities and implemented
using MATLAB Simulink.
