dc.description.abstract This study explored the extent of teachers’ commitment and teachers’ intention to leave examined in the Ilu Aba Bor Zone secondary schools. The researcher use quantitative method and employed correlation design. To this end, 140 (60%) teachers were selected from Eight (8) secondary schools using simple random sampling technique and participated in the study. The researchers collected the relevant data from teachers using Meyer and Allen’s (1997) organizational commitment questionnaire (OCQ) and Intention to Leave Instrument (ILIQ). The researchers analyzed the data using mean, standard deviation, correlation analysis and t-test. The result showed that there was evidence of negative correlation between teachers’ commitment and intention to leave in the sampled secondary schools. Regardless of this, the findings of the study discovered that gender and marital status were the only demographic variables those had significant relationship with commitment. The other demographic variables such as age, level of education and experience were not show significant relationship with teachers’ commitment in the sampled schools. On the other hand, none of the demographic variables determine the teachers’ intention to leave their school. As the result of this finding it was concluded that schools can actively take part to minimize the factors those lead the teachers to feel intention to leave. As to the demographic variable, since some of the finding contradicts with the existing literature, It is crucial to undertake more studies to get better understanding of the nature of the relationship between teachers demographic variables, teachers commitment and teachers intention to leave in Ethiopian context en_US
