Abstract:
The main purpose of this research was to investigate the school leadership effectiveness on students’ academic achievements in selected Werads of Jimma Zone .School principals vice principals department heads supervisors and teachers were including in the study as primary source of data. The study was relied on qualitative , quantitative and correlation approaches and employed descriptive survey research design. The population of the study embraced five randomly selected schools found in Jimma zone. These include Ifa Ilu , seqa Limmu genet s, Bilida and chora schools. The study population embraced 75 teachers,20 department heads, 5 vice principals, 5 principals and 3 supervisors. Thus the number of research participants was 108.Data were gathered through questionnaire. The data obtained through various tools was organized in logical manner so as to help answer the basic research questions. The quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS version 26 software .Data obtained through interview and document analysis were analyzed and student score grade twelve national results were quantitatively analyzed whereas pearson’s correlation tests were employed to established the magnitude and direction of the relationship between school leadership on students’ academic achievement. Accordingly , the finding of the study revealed that the over all of SCLE average mean score 3.6(72%) obtained the result showed that the two variable were respectively a positive and significant relationship between leadership effectiveness on students’ academic achievement (r=.299 *, p<0.002 ).The response of participants from sample secondary schools as instructional leaders concerning extent to which promote professional practice developing mechanism by which teachers share their experience ,concerning extent to which school principal effectiveness for teachers as a leader to involving teaching staff to enhancing students achievement. The study indicated that the school leadership effectiveness on students’ academic achievements of Jimma Zone selective woredas was weak because leaders were of appointed by their political commitment even their profession is not considered , lack of training, lack of resource, lack of free participation on issue, and lack of regular support from higher education officials has contributed for poor performance Based on the finding ,conclusion, this implies that school leadership indirectly affect students’ academic achievement through improving school vision and goals yet, commitment principals leadership effectiveness should be committed to enhance the result of the students achievement and practice to invest their time and materials to attain the objective of the school.
