Abstract:
This research was aimed at the role of parent in student’s academic achievement in Haro wato
catholic primary school of uraga woreda of guji zone. The research study used both primary and
secondary source of data but more emphasis is highly given to primary data using open and
closed ended questionnaires for selected individuals who are capable of reading and writing.
Moreover, interview questions are also provided for illiterate respondents in particular. The
second data tried to emphasize different documents data related books, internet and other
related sources.
The collected data was analyzed and summarized using descriptive method of analysis through
percentages of frequency tables. The researcher of this study interviewed PTA members, school
administrator and parents in area of the student’s academic achievement is to know factors that
affect student’s academic achievement and how to overcome the problem and improve parent
involvement in school. Almost all of the students, teachers, PTA members and school
administrator said that parent and school collaboration is necessary for successful parent
involvement in school activities. But sufficient communication is basic for initiating parent’s
involvement in the student’s academic achievement. Active involvement of parents should be
encouraged therefore concerned authorities beginning from the low to the top of the school level
need to understand the Importance of parent involvement in students’ academic achievement.
