Abstract:
This study was focus on assessing the leadership effort in supporting information communication technology in secondary schools of Ilu Aba Bor Zone.
The study founded that the level of ICT integration in secondary schools of the study area was found to be low due to insufficient school principals’ knowledge of ICT. In addition, the study also founded that major factors determining school leaderships’ effort in ICT integration were principals’ weakness in community mobilization to provide ICT infrastructures. Due to this reason, there were lack of electric power source, lack of ICT resources (insufficient computers and laptops, plasma, printers, scanners and LCD projectors) and insufficient computers. To minimize these challenges for effective ICT implementation, the researcher recommended that the school principals advised to mobilize community, provision of donors support and encouraging staff by school leaders may promote school leaderships’ effort of ICT integration in secondary school. The government attention to introduce compulsory computer trainingfor all principals may also may also improve leaderships’ effort of ICT integration. The schools sighting alternative sources of power like generator and solar energy in places where there is no electricity will also help for school leadership’s effort of ICT integration. Also, the schools open knowledge-sharing, strong mechanisms of assessing, monitoring and evaluating themselves and their staff members may also use for effective ICT integration to meet the set schools’ targets.
