Abstract:
The research is a historical survey of Sabata Awas District from 1941 -1991. The purpose of the
research is to reconstruct the socio-political, economic, cultural and ritual history of Sabata Awas
District focusing on the periods between 1941 and 1991. The year 1941 was a turning point in the
history of the district because of the foundation of the district was began as a general and particular
area, while the year 1991 marked the downfall of the military regime and its command economic
system. This reconstructed the history of Sabata Awas District based on archives, primary, secondary
and oral sources. Appropriate data from different sources like archival materials, papers, theses and
dissertations,books and oral information are gathered and organized. The collected data and oral
information are carefully arranged and crosschecked and then analyzed, interpreted and narrated
chronologically. It is in this way that the history of Sabata Awas District from the Italian occupation
to the last decade of 20thc is constructed. The thesis offered background knowledge related to the
pre-Italian occupation. Inshort, the objective of the study is to show the local changes observed in
Sabata Awas district in the context of change in policy and government at the national level.
Accordingly, it starts by highlighting the short Fascist Italian administration pertaining to land, food
and reactions of the local peopleagainst Italians. The restoration of the imperial rule and some of the
reforms that imperial government introduced, especially in relation to land, taxation, administration
and reactions of the peoples of the district as well as impacts of the capital on the district that
resulted froma policy through the time of the period.The research also tries to examine the
development that Sabata Awas witnessed during the military regime(1974 -1991). The military
regime attemped to consolidate its power by introducing several measures at a national level and in
particular in Sabata Awas
