Abstract:
The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of project based learning paragraph
writing on learners’ performance and motivation towards writing paragraph. To achieve the
intended objective of the stud, experimental research method was used. Experimental research
method was arranged in experimental and control group of students that were selected from
section A and D of grade12.The quantitative approach was used to analyze the pre-test and pos-
test results of experimental and control group of students. The result of total sum and average
results of the pre-test and post test were analyzed and presented in the tables. Based on the
analysis made of the pre-test and post test results, the findings of the study were identified. The
findings of the study were presented side by side with the basic research questions of the study.
Therefore, the result of the study revealed that there was very insignificant difference between
paragraph writing performances of the experimental and the control group of students before the
intervention (59.32-58.80) which was 0.52% statistics mean difference, The result of the study
also revealed that there was significant difference between paragraph writing performances of
the experimental and the control group of students after the intervention (69.32-58.80) which
was 10.52% difference respectively. The result of the study also indicated the presence of
motivation of experimental group students towards project based paragraph writing. Based on
the findings of the study, recommendations were given. The recommendations that were given for
the study were English teacher should design Project based paragraph writing in their teaching
approach to improve the performance and motivation of students in paragraph writing as well
as they should employ Project based paragraph writing in their teaching approach to improve
the performance and motivation of students in paragraph writing and should motivate students
to
use Project based paragraph writing to improve their performance and motivation in
paragraph writing.
