Abstract:
This study focused on investigating grade 11 students ' awareness ,self-efficacy beliefs and
the Utilization speaking strategies in learning speaking skills. and explored English learners'
awareness of English strategies use and identified which English speaking strategies grade 11
students of Agaro Secondary School and found out the status of grade 11 students of Agaro
Secondary School English speaking self-efficacy . The study employed mixed research
approach and descriptive sample survey design. There were 97 representatives who
participated in the research and they have been selected using simple random sampling
method. There were 97 students who participated in the research. The quantitative data of the
study were analyzed using SPSS software version 23. Descriptive method was employed.
Descriptive statistics results were presented using frequency table, percentage mean,
standard deviation t- value df value etc have been applied. Under each table there are brief
table explanations. The usage of speaking strategies was not fully practiced yet .This was due
to different challenges that arise from external environment such as the school environment,
teachers' teaching methods etc. The internal challenges such as shyness of students, fear of
talking in front of their friends were some of the challenges. In conclusion, participants of the
study implemented the speaking learning strategies at moderate level .Hence; teachers should
lay tangible effort to support the students to improve their attempt to use speaking learning
strategies.
