dc.description.abstract The present study mainly focused on investigating EFL Teachers’ awareness and practices of using reading strategies in teaching reading skills in EFL class room. Based on the study variables, leading research questions were designed. In order to carry out the study descriptive survey research design was used. Thus, questionnaire and qualitative data were collected using the instruments such as questionnaire, semi structured interview and class observation. The data collected via close ended items of the questionnaire were analyzed using quantitative methods of data analysis. These data were presented in table and they were analyzed using descriptive statistics that include frequencies, percentiles, Pearson’s correlation coefficient was also computed to check whether there were relation amongst respondent awareness and practices. The qualitative data collected using open ended items of the questionnaire, interview items and class observation checklist were described and narrated thematically using the variable as main and narrated thematically using the variable as main and sub topics. It was found out that sample teachers commonly used only reading strategies in teaching reading skills. This clearly showed that sample English teachers’ awareness towards various reading strategies in teaching reading skills is very unsatisfactory so that they usually practices of using reading strategies in teaching reading skills. However, these respondents have strong beliefs to using reading strategies in teaching reading skills. It was observed that their implementation of the strategies was below the expected level. The finding of the study also showed that challenges that they frequent encountered rose from their own personal case, their learners, and the environmental factors. Finally, recommendation were out forth to the concerned bodies such as English language teachers, school administrator, Zone education bureau workers. Additionally, it continuous experimental, studies are conducted by the coming researchers in each variable of the study , EFL teachers’ awareness and practices will be improved a lot. en_US
