dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the strategies English teachers use to enhance students’ speaking skills at Kuyera Secondary School. Descriptive survey research was applied. The sample populations of this study were teachers and students.80 students were selected using simple random sampling (lottery) method and 6 teachers were also selected using availed sampling technique. This study collected data using questionnaire, interview and observation to achieve methodological triangulation. It used self administered questionnaire that contains 32 items for each teacher and student, which was adapted and modified from Pal (2015), and classroom observation and interview with teachers also employed. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency and percentage. Data obtained through observation and interview analyzed qualitatively. The result of the present study showed that teachers were not seen using the following strategies such as: dialogues role-play, debating, picture description, etc to enhance students’ speaking skills. The major findings of this study suggested that the strategies English language teachers use to enhance students’ speaking skills were not significantly helped students to improve their English speaking skills. Therefore, based up on the conclusion drawn from the study, the school English language teachers did not use strategies properly in order to enhance students’ English language speaking skill. Then, according to the findings and conclusions all the responsible bodies: teachers, students, school administrators and other stakeholders should cooperate and work hard to develop English language speaking skill in this school. en_US
