dc.description.abstract This study attempted to investigate Teachers’ and students’ awareness, perception and practices in using literary texts incorporated in students’ text book. The study was conducted in Fide secondary school in Grade 11, with four English teachers and forty students. The students were selected randomly among the total of four hundred fifty two students from the registration list. Ten students were also selected voluntarily among forty students focus group discussion in order to triangulate with the questionnaire .The data for the study was collected using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Triangulation involved in different research instruments like students’ questionnaire triangulated with students focus group discussion, teachers’ interview with document analysis and classroom observations were held twice for eight sections to see teachers’ and students’ awareness, perception, and practices of using literary texts incorporated in students’ textbook in EFL classes. The finding of this research revealed that both teachers and the students had awareness, regarding in using literary texts in teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Regarding the perception and practices, most teachers and students perceive literary texts as useful in terms of language development. However, the teachers lacked the knowledge to integrate the literary texts with the teaching of language skills effectively. How compatible the classroom activities are with their awareness and what kind of literary texts do the teachers prefer to use in their English language classes was also investigated as part of the study. en_US
