dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study was to investigate students’ and teachers’ attitudes about grade9 reading texts and exercises. The study was carried out on 60 grade 9 students and 10 English teachers fromJimma Zone SekaWoredasecondary school.Questionnaires, classroom observation andinterviews were used to collect data for this study The students’attitude in reading text and exercise was poorly in this school. The case was stated in open-ended question.the ease which teachers handle the reading text and exercises in the lower class(Elementary school)they focused on grammer and speaking.The poor language background students have, among factors, reportedly was found to be accountable for learners to negativereactions towards different aspects of reading texts and exercises. Based on the findings it is recommended that both students and teachers should beconvinced about the roles the reading texts and exercises play in other academic subjects,and put in their efforts accordingly. en_US
