dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study is to analyze the function of Dawuro proverbs and their use in social culture. To achieve these objectives data were collected through interviews and focus group discussion. The analysis was carried out through a descriptive method following qualitative design to describe the function and using snow bowel sampling technique were collected and analyzed according to their functions which they are serving in the society. The results indicate that Dawuro proverbs have multiple functions; These are corrective, aesthetic, didactic, normative, and reflective. Function of proverbs that the researcher identified in this study is that proverbs teach about morality, diligence, and purity, and at the same time criticize unethical behaviors such as ridicule, snobbery, and laziness. laziness and other forms of evil human behavior. These profound proverbs reflect the customs, moral values , and strictness of Dawuro people. Thus, Dawuro proverbs play an important role in reinforcing social relevance and generating public response to social, cultural, and economic obstacles. Furthermore, research has attempted to show that proverbs can be used to build communities, maintain culture, and develop responsible people. en_US
