Abstract:
Ethiopia is one of the countries in the continent with enormous potential for producing honey,
containing an abundance of bioactive, antioxidant components that are useful for health. However,
these contents can vary due to the type of honey, so, this research aimed to Study on Bioactive
Properties and Antioxidant Characteristics of Honey along the Value Chain and Consumers'
Preference toward Honey Harvested from Forest and Backyard Hives. The survey data was collected
through interviews, group discussions, and observation, and the sample of forest and backyard honey
sample was collected from value chain actors (producer, tej-producer, retailer, and cooperative from
the farm gate of the producer to Bonga honey union) from both forest and backyard honey storage
container to evaluate bioactive and anti-oxidant components by using standard procedures
